Class IV Deep Tissue Therapy Laser

Helping Patient Recover Faster and Reduce Pain

Laser therapy is a surgery-free, drug-free option for individuals suffering from both acute and chronic pain. Treatments are fast, safe, and painless. Most patients see results in 3 to 5 treatment sessions, and patients can expect notable pain relief, with the effects lasting longer after each treatment.

Laser therapy is clinically proven to reduce pain and inflammation associated with many common musculoskeletal conditions, such as

  • lower back or neck pain
  • knee osteoarthritis
  • shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
  • golfers or tennis elbow
  • bursitis, tendonitis
  • plantar fasciitis
  • and much more.

Laser therapy is endorsed by professional clinical organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP®) with over 3,000 research studies having been conducted in the field. It is found in most Division I athletic training rooms, professional sports and in the Olympics.

The LightForce® XLi Deep Tissue Therapy Laser is FDA cleared and represents a great advance in medical technology allowing us to provide another effective treatment option to our patients with this latest proven technology.

This Class IV laser system can help improve quality of life by reducing the pain and inflammation associated with painful musculoskeletal conditions.

About Laser Therapy: Laser therapy is a medical treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process within the cell called photobiomodulation (PBM). During PBM, the light interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism and a decrease in both pain and inflammation. This treatment is FDA cleared and enables patients to have an alternative to drug and surgery for pain relief.

What Benefits could I expect from Laser Therapy? Laser therapy has been scientifically proven to reduce pain. By enhancing the cellular metabolism of the mitochondria in the cell laser therapy results in decreased inflammation and reduction of inflammatory factors in the tissue leading to long term relief. Additionally, it spurs on the healing process activating cells which help to remodel and lay down new and healthy collagen fibers.

How long does a treatment last? The laser system by Light Force used in our office is the most powerful laser on the market with the capacity of dosing up to 40 Watts. As a result, the laser can penetrate more deeply into the target tissue with less time required. Most treatments will last from 4-7 minutes in length.

What is the difference between low level laser therapy (Class 3) vs. Class IV? Class 3 lasers are considered cold lasers limited to powers of 0.5 Watts and under. Class IV lasers are considered High Power or Warm lasers which enable the user to select powers from 0.5 Watts all the way to 40 Watts of power. Light Force XLi used in our clinic is the most powerful Class IV laser on the market. Class IV lasers provide a soothing warmth with a deep analgesic effect that results in long term relief.

How many treatment sessions would I need? This really depends on the condition along with the length of time of injury. Acute conditions may require as few as 6 sessions whereas chronic or longstanding conditions may require 16 or more. Your physical therapist at Chandler PT will recommend the appropriate dosing based on your specific condition.

Is Laser therapy covered by insurance? Insurance does not cover laser therapy. This is an additional service offered by our practice. Please contact our office for pricing and package options.

Do I need to be in PT to get Laser therapy? While most of our patients who receive laser therapy are currently undergoing PT it is not a requirement. You can make a stand-alone session for laser only at our facility. Our schedulers can assist you in arranging an appointment that suits your needs.
