FAQs
When my doctor recommends physical therapy, do I have a choice in where I receive my care?
YES! As a private practice owner it is important that we make our patients aware that they have a choice of where they receive their physical therapy services. As a therapist owned practice, we make it our highest priority to ensure the best outcomes for our patients while striving to create great relationships and complete patient satisfaction. Larger hospital and physician owned systems may have financial incentives to guide their patients to their own facilities. When a physician provides you with a prescription for medication, you have a choice where you fulfill that prescription. The same is true for physical therapy. We hope that you consider us for your physical therapy needs.
Do I need a referral to receive physical therapy?
Did you know that you can come to PT without a referral from your doctor? In North Carolina we have the privilege of being a direct access state which means that you can use physical therapy as your first choice for musculoskeletal care! Some insurance companies may require a referral for payment. Please contact our office to verify your policy and to assist you in obtaining a referral if needed.
What can I expect on my first visit?
We ask that you arrive to your first appointment 20 minutes prior to your appointment time to check in and fill out any necessary paperwork. Most of our forms can be found on our website and completed prior to your arrival. At your first appointment, your physical therapist will carefully examine your condition, lay out an appropriate plan of care with your specific goals in mind, and begin treatment on the root causes of your condition.
How much time should I allow for each physical therapy session?
Times can vary depending on the condition being treated. Allowing approximately 90 min for the initial evaluation (arrival to departure) and approximately 60-75 min for each follow up visit.
What do I need to bring to my first visit?
Please bring your insurance card, doctor’s referral, imaging reports (X-ray, MRI, etc.), and any applicable notes from your doctor. Please bring with you a method of payment. Payment is due at the time of service.
What should I wear to my physical therapy sessions?
Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing which will allow you to move freely during exercise and allow your physical therapist to have access to the body region being treated. No worries, we have shorts and gowns if needed.
This really depends on the condition being treated, your specific goals, and other factors such as the condition of your health, age, etc. In general, most patients see the greatest benefit from attending physical therapy 2-3 times per week for 4-6 weeks. Some individuals may take less and some may require longer periods of treatment. Our goal, however, is to provide you with the best personalized care in order to produce the best outcomes in the fewest visits possible.
How long should I anticipate before I’m better?
